Substance abuse is a growing epidemic in Pakistan. This practice has left a particularly gruesome mark on marginalized segments. Research indicates that the emotional scars left by early childhood trauma create deep seated mental health problems leading to substance abuse. This vulnerability is further exacerbated by social exclusion and discrimination when marginalized individuals turn to substances to deal with everyday violence.

Karb (lit. pain) is HOPE’s latest venture to shed light on this hidden issue plaguing our communities. This film unearths hidden facts, sheds light on the invisible segments and weaves a powerful and eye-opening narrative on substance abuse.
