Legal Clinic: Hiba Akbar on Domestic Violence Laws!
We are super excited to feature the brilliant Hiba Akbar in the #ProjectADAL Legal Clinic series! 🤩 Hiba is a Teaching Fellow at the School of Law at LUMS. Hiba’s research interests lie at the intersection of gender, labor, and law and she has been part of key research on rape law reform in Pakistan for the NCSW. She graduated from Columbia Law School as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. During her LL.M, she participated in Columbia Law School’s ‘Sexuality and Gender Law Clinic,’ where she worked on reproductive rights and the rights of transgender prisoners in New York prisons.
In this video, Hiba gives us an overview of the Punjab Protection of Women against Violence Act, 2016, and the protection mechanisms available under it.
We are incredibly thankful to Ms. Shehreen Umair for her help in creating these videos.
Project ADAL was launched in 2018 by HOPE, with a focus on legal research, advocacy, and awareness. If you have questions or need legal assistance, please reach out to us at info@hopecommunity.pk
